Celebrating the life of
Augusta Hohnerlein Brady
May 07, 1924 - June 02, 2011
Savannah- Augusta Hohnerlein Brady, known as Mickey to so many and Mimi to her family, passed away on June 2, 2011.
She was born on May 7, 1924, in Savannah, Georgia, to Joseph and Augusta Hohnerlein. Mickey was a 1943 graduate of St Vincent's Academy and a 1946 graduate of St Joseph's School of Nursing, both of which were very important parts of her life. As a public health nurse for Chatham County for thirty four years, she reached out to all and provided more than just a visit by a nurse by giving extra help where she could. A communicant of Saint Michael's Catholic Church for many years, she and her late husband, Francis M. "Dee," Brady, did much to make their community a better place. As residents of Spanish Hammock on Tybee Island, Mickey and Dee were able to obtain a breath taking view of the Atlantic Ocean, which they dreamed about for many years.
Mickey was a member of the Tybee Island Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary Post 184, and Shriner's Tybee Island Supper Club. She loved to support the Fresh Air Home and Savannah Speech and Hearing by conducting medical screenings even during her years of retirement.
Mickey is preceded in everlasting life by her loving husband, Dee, and eldest son, F. Michael Brady.
She is survived by her caring daughter, Anne, who was always there for Mimi, and her son-in-law, James Byerly; her son, Lawrence and his wife, Melodie Brady of Virginia Beach, VA; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Brady of Ellijay, GA; her devoted grandchildren, Lucy; Michael David; Joe and his wife, Amanda; Matthew and his wife, Ashley; Stephanie; Patrick; Margaret and her husband, Tanner; Kelli; and Elizabeth; her two great-grandchildren, Brady Knox and Lily, who will live out her legacy.
Finally, to all of her nieces, nephews, and friends who have known Mimi/Mickey, thank you for being there all these years and loving this amazing woman.
A visitation and rosary service will be held at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel on Sunday, June 5th from 3 to 5:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 6th. Burial will be at Bonaventure Cemetery following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Vincent's Academy, 207 E. Liberty Street, Savannah, GA 31410 or Hospice of Savannah, PO Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.

Larry/Anne, I was so sorry to hear about your Mama. She was very much the nice lady! It had been a long time since I saw her, but I used to keep up with her when she was at the health department where my brother and sister-in-law also worked.
